The Buddie had two different colored eyes; blue and brown. When I first saw him, I thought he couldn’t see out of the blue one. I remember circling him to check if he could see me coming from the side. He did and he barked at me relentlessly for it thinking I was trying to pull a fast one on him. He was a crazy, ugly looking dog. If our first encounter had been him running at me down the street, I probably would’ve ran thinking he had rabies.

I had originally intended on just getting a coffee mug for myself but then I discovered this whole world of merchandising where you can stick whatever image you want on just about anything with absolutely zero out of pocket costs. It all just kind of snow-balled from there. I wanted to put his face on everything and before I knew it, The Buddie had his own webstore. It’s all a bit creepy to be honest, especially The Buddie Snuggie and women’s underwear. I don’t know why anybody would want to buy anything on there other than myself and that’s ok. Sales isn’t the point. Just seeing his face on all that crap makes me laugh.I bought the domain name for five years to keep me company and started up a Facebook page for him. If you want updates on The Buddie’s evolution, make sure to give that like button a quick click.

all dogs go to heaven04.27.11

The Buddie almost died today. He was having more trouble breathing than usual, he wouldn’t eat or drink, he was puking and he did that thing I hear dogs do when they’re about to die; he tried to bury himself into a dark corner. He crawled to his bed under my desk and stuffed his nose against the wall. His stomach was contracting to less than half its size and he had the most frightening noise coming out of him. At that point, I picked him up and rushed him to veterinary hospital down the road and carried him in. They ended up putting him under, stuffed a bunch of tubes down his throat, pumped his stomach and took x-rays.
