OdysseyBMX.com (2010)10.9.09

Design and Development: OdysseyBMX.com
Quite a departure from the first version, the new Odyssey site is HTML/JavaScript based and completely powered with a WordPress CMS. The content is divided into modules, many of which is randomly generated from the latest news posts pertaining to that module. This helps keep the content circulating and delivers new visuals with each page load. Like the previous version, Flash is utilized in the form of embedable video players and photo galleries, which help promote traffic back to the site.
Odyssey: Video Widget05.5.09
This is a scalable video widget developed for OdysseyBMX.com. Each time the player is embedded, it has a rotating ad ticker at the bottom, with content automatically driven by the main website. The benefits of this implementation versus most video player is the company gets product exposure whenever the widget isn’t playing a video. This method can result in up to 10 times more click throughs than typical web banner marketing tactics.
The widget is iPad/iPhone/iPod and mobile device compatible. Whenever a video is also available through the company’s Vimeo profile (social video network), that version of the video gets pulled in for mobile / handheld devices. This is beneficial since it not only promotes one of the company’s many social media outlets but it also helps cut down on their web server’s load and bandwidth.
