This is a scalable video widget developed for OdysseyBMX.com. Each time the player is embedded, it has a rotating ad ticker at the bottom, with content automatically driven by the main website. The benefits of this implementation versus most video player is the company gets product exposure whenever the widget isn’t playing a video. This method can result in up to 10 times more click throughs than typical web banner marketing tactics.

The widget is iPad/iPhone/iPod and mobile device compatible. Whenever a video is also available through the company’s Vimeo profile (social video network), that version of the video gets pulled in for mobile / handheld devices. This is beneficial since it not only promotes one of the company’s many social media outlets but it also helps cut down on their web server’s load and bandwidth.

This is the first site I created for Odyssey and while developing it, one of the key things we wanted to do was break free from the traditional website molds and templates. We wanted to offer something that was more of an interactive experience, unique to Odyssey. The result was a flash-based website which moved with the user’s mouse and presented information in ways which lend itself to each hand-built diorama’s theme.
