Perrine Bridge Catwalk
- Twin Falls, Idaho
-
Dave and I decided to hike up the catwalk of Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls. I was wearing dress shoes and have a slight fear of heights, so I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea. We took a shitty route to get to the bottom of the bridge too. It was rocky AF and I had a 50lb camera bag on me. I thought I was going to topple over on more than one occasion.
Fun Fact: Perrine Bridge is one of the few bridges you can legally jump off of in the US. BASE jumpers from around the world come here just to jump off it. I'd much rather do that than hike up the catwalk again.
Bonus Fact: East of this bridge is the site of where Evel Knievel infamously tried to jump over the Snake River.
- The beginning part of the bridge was steep enough to the point that my shoes kept slipping. I decided to take them off for better traction. It was a good idea until I got to this part. Walking on those bolts sucked. I ended up having to inch my way up with my feet shimming along the edges.
- The funniest part was when we got to the top, we realized we could've just climbed down the manhole from the top.
